Coming Soon
VRC6 Symphony is currently in development. Check back soon!
What You’ll Build
Audio expansion game. Using Konami’s VRC6 mapper — the same chip that powered Castlevania III (Akumajou Densetsu) in Japan — to create music beyond the standard NES sound hardware.
The VRC6 adds three additional sound channels to the NES: two pulse waves and a sawtooth wave. This post-capstone game teaches you to compose and implement enhanced audio for homebrew releases.
Skills You’ll Master
- VRC6 mapper programming — Konami’s expansion chip
- Two additional pulse channels — extended melody options
- Sawtooth wave channel — distinctive VRC6 sound
- Enhanced music composition — richer arrangements
- Audio driver development — multi-chip sound engine
- Japanese cart compatibility — Famicom expansion audio
