Sega's final console launched with online gaming, visual memory units, and arcade-perfect ports, but couldn't survive the PlayStation 2 onslaught.

Overview

The Dreamcast arrived in 1998 with features that wouldn’t become standard for years: built-in modem for online play, visual memory unit with its own screen, and power rivalling arcade hardware. Sega delivered critically acclaimed games, but the looming PlayStation 2 and Sega’s financial struggles proved fatal. The console was discontinued in 2001, ending Sega’s hardware business.
