Overview

The Mega Drive couldn’t do this. Except Treasure made it do exactly this. Gunstar Heroes filled screens with enormous bosses, rotating sprites, scaling effects, and constant explosions that seemed impossible on Sega’s 16-bit hardware. The weapon combination system let players mix four shot types into unique combinations, ensuring no two playthroughs felt identical.
