Overview
Stand tall and shake the heavens. Xenogears attempted more than any JRPG before—Freudian psychology, Gnostic cosmology, religious questioning, and giant robot action in one package. Tetsuya Takahashi’s vision exceeded Square’s resources; disc two famously replaced gameplay with narrated exposition. Yet the ambition resonated—flawed masterpiece became the template for Takahashi’s subsequent Xenosaga and Xenoblade series.
